Dan founded his first business, a construction company, with his dad when he was fresh out of high school. He worked on the business full-time while attending college classes at night. That business expanded into retail, and Dan went on to own a commercial real estate business and a family business from his wife’s side. He is currently part-owner of an international agriculture company and he served as a business developer for a wholesale company for over four years.
Business is in his blood.
For the last 16 years, Dan has been working to serve business owners from the outside – in Olympia. In 1999, after working through business challenges with a state agency, some legislators approached him to ask if he was interested in running for office. He wasn’t, but they kept asking and in 2002 Dan was elected.
In 2003, he was sworn in to the Washington State House of Representatives, where he worked on everything from facilitating budget negotiations to responding to emergencies to training up a team that could handle the job when he would eventually step down — which he did in January of this year.
Dan was contemplating taking on another business when he ran into Jeff Rogers, who asked about his plans. During their conversation, they discussed the possibility of Dan's joining OneAccord.
“I love the team aspect of OneAccord,” said Dan.
“I love to help other people succeed, but if I did this on my own I would not necessarily be able to fulfill 100 percent of a client's needs. However, by leveraging OneAccord I will be able to fill all the client's needs.”
