Dan has focused his career on improving manufacturing and operational performance primarily in the consumer products and retail industries. He’s skilled at identifying opportunities and implementing organizational change and alignment to achieve results. His expertise is in manufacturing, global supply chain management and retail operations.

Dan began his career at Boeing Electronics as a manufacturing engineer in 1984 and left in 1989 to attend business school. From 1991 to 1993, he was an operations analyst for Kulite Tungsten in New Jersey, a small specialty metals manufacturer serving the medical and aerospace industries. He joined Colgate-Palmolive in 1993 and has deep experience in global supply chain management and factory operations in the consumer products industry. Lastly, from 2002 till 2017, when he retired, he was with Nordstrom, a large, national fashion retailer.

At Colgate, Dan consistently improved factory efficiencies and customer service and in his last position transformed one large factory from one of the lowest performing large factories in Colgate to above average in 1.5 years. At Nordstrom, he co-led (with the chief financial officer) company efforts to nearly triple profitability from $243 million in 2003 to $715 million in 2008. As CIO at Nordstrom, he restructured technology organization, leading to a 25 percent productivity improvement. He also supported technology and operations to grow online business to 30 percent of Nordstrom’s sales.

Dan earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
