Nils comes to OneAccord with over 25 years of experience as a transformational leader of cross-functional teams in the execution of multi-channel projects. He is a collaborative communicator who builds solid relationships with C-level executives, senior management and strategic partners to drive cohesive practices across an enterprise. As an analytical professional, Nils’s experience includes identifying key trends, performance indicators and operational gaps to enhance bottom-line factors.

An accomplished, innovative, goal-oriented business leader, Nils’s extensive experience spans a wide range of industries including technology, healthcare, higher education, government and media. He has built high-impact global brand strategies and marketing initiatives for clients including Aon, Ariba, Arizona State University, BlackBerry, Inova Health System, Macy’s, PR Newswire and the University of Chicago.

For 20 years, as the CEO of Brainforest, a brand consultancy based in Chicago, Nils guaranteed maximum efficiency and margins, in addition to increasing billings per client annually by fostering solid customer relationships and tracking all facets of the business on a regular basis. He implemented key enterprise-wide business initiatives with global impact and developed brand strategies and programs for significant organizational advancement while working directly with CEOs, chief marketing officers and other executive leadership members. In his role he also oversaw business development, pipeline generation, and sales and marketing functions. Highlights include:

  • Founding and growing the agency from zero revenue to annual revenues of $3 million+ in services with profit margins of 12 percent and higher
  • Selecting to develop global brand repositioning efforts for Blackberry impacting over 35 global markets with diverse audiences
  • Spearheading the successful global repositioning efforts for Aon eSolutions

After selling Brainforest, Nils founded and managed the day-to-day operations of Spicewater®, a delicious better-for-you beverage with functional ingredients such as turmeric, ginger and cinnamon. He developed a supply chain to obtain high-quality ingredients from a global network of vendors, exporters and shippers of spices, and generated business revenue by developing and executing omni-channel business strategies. These strategies included diverse programs of design, marketing and social media. As the company grew, he adapted to increasing consumer demands via end-to-end supply chain management. Highlights include:

  • Growing the company from zero revenue to $250,000 in revenue in less than 18 months
  • Enhancing ingredient quality through strategic identification and engagement with international suppliers, exporters and shippers
  • Positioning the organization for a profitable sale in 2018

Nils is on the board of Movement2Be, a New York City-based nonprofit that empowers underserved communities by teaching physical literacy to youth. He has been a speaker at various design and healthcare-related conferences around the country, talking about the importance of designing businesses through a holistic methodology that sets a foundation and builds systematically and purposefully, resulting in a repeatable, scalable and sustainable growth pattern.

Nils completed his undergraduate work at Minnesota State University, Moorhead, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts, concentrating in design.
